My Bad

You know how there are signs on a bathroom door to separate a man and a woman’s privacy? Well they are there for a reason; so a man won’t walk in while a woman is using the can. This keeps peace between all people everywhere. But knowing me, I’m stupid enough to walk into the wrong bathroom. When you are at home, it is always awkward to walk in the bathroom while your dad is using it. But when it happens at the mall to a complete stranger, it’s even worse. I just chugged down a whole cup of lemonade because my friends dared me. Right away, it went through me and I had to pee like a racehorse. I quickly got up and ran to the closest bathroom. Little did I know that this was the men’s bathroom. I pushed open the door and stopped in my tracks. Right in front of me, my young little eyes, was a man using a urinal. He turned around, screamed like a little girl, and zippered up his pants. I immediately covered my eyes and turned around. I ran for the door but the door only opened to the inside. All of a sudden, I ran into the door and fell to the ground. My head was throbbing and there was a nasty lump on my forehead. The man asked if I was okay but I got right up and ran out. After that experience, I always looked for the sign on the bathroom door to make sure that I wasn’t making the same mistake I did 3 years ago.

Cancun, Mexico

The water shines clear as the day starts its journey. The fish swim in packs to protect one another from oncoming predators. The white sand on the beach caresses tourist's feet. Everyday has an adventure waiting for someone to come along and grab hold of it. Snorkeling allows you to interact with the fish. You become one of them and suddenly enter a whole new world. A world full of color, different feelings, and a whole new family. Zip-lining gives you a chance to become a monkey; sliding from tree to tree with the experience of overseeing everything below you. The trees look like green lollipops that quietly dance with the wind. The blue sky brings joy and relaxation to everyone. Swimming with the dolphins gives you a dream you will never forget. Their tail sways from side to side, mesmerizing your eyes and wanting to become one of them. The water glides past their slimy skin into your eyes. cooling them off from a hot, Mexico day. Cancun always has something new to accomplish and when the sun goes down, another great day is about to arrive.

My Backyard

One and a half acre of land surrounded by woods. The green grass shines vibrantly against the sun. My backyard is where everything happens. It's where I first learned how to play soccer. My dad's first garden patch; where I broke my wrist for the first time. It has blood stains from all the cuts and bruises but it still lives on. When you lay in the grass, it feels cold on your skin on a hot summer day. Nat's slowly surround you as you lat there, absorbing the sun's heat. The feeling of the grass swaying back and forth with the wind makes you forget the world even exists. It's so relaxing that you can even fall asleep and get a nasty sunburn. But besides that, my backyard has millions of memories stored within its soul and more to come.

Dumb Love

You took me by surprise;
Wanted to meet me, talk to me, just so you could break my heart.
I fell for you, like nerds fall for calculus.
I was blinded by the lies that were thrown in my face.
Torn apart from those four words, "We Should Break Up".
You got game from my pain, and that's why you're lonely all the time.

4 Ways of Looking at First Period

Endless laughter of young teenagers.
Bright colors swarm around the room.
Everyone looks fowared to this period,
because we all feel like family.

A wonderful teacher teaching us
the greatness of writing, and eager students
enjoying each moment of it.
For most this is their favorite class because
of the warmth, comfort, and warm welcoming
each and everyday.

Energy lifting the room,
kids smiling and laughing as if
they'd rather be here than somewhere else.

As the time comes to end this class,
we all sadly put our notebooks away.
But we look foward to tomorrow because
we know that this period will be twice as better,
than today.

Rough Draft of perspective poem

Jealousy has many sides to it.
Like a girl in a High School hallway.
Wanting to be someone better than herself;
something different.
Or like a young teenage boy who can't defend for himself.
Watching, and waiting for the right moment to shine.

How I learned the word "Music"

It feels like i'm back to six years old when I talk about this.
Music was the definition of my childhood and my family.
It filled the cracks on the walls,
and the darkness in every corner.
I would love to hear the beat of the bass pounding on my sister's door.
The muscial style of Discovery mixed with my brother's Blind Guardian.
Not a very good combination.
My dad would be working to the sound of The Four Tops,
while my mom would have the radio on,
listening to anything.
As for me, I would just sit by my fire and soak in every lyric that my ears caught sound of.
By the second chorus, I would be singing every word with the perfect tune.
Loving the sound of music, it was the definition of the Hlavatys.
